Out of 294 new coronavirus cases 193 reported in Adjara region, 43 in Tbilisi

Georgia has confirmed 294 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours with 66% of cases reported in the Adjara region and 15% of cases reported in the capital of Tbilisi, Marina Endeladze, representative of Tbilisi Hospital of Infections Diseases, announced earlier today.

Endeladze told journalists that Georgia retains the status of a ‘green zone’ with the speed of the spread of the infection so far.

Out of the 294 new cases:

  • 43 people were infected in Tbilisi
  • 193 people were infected in Adjara
  • 16 people were infected in Guria
  • 14 people were infected in Imereti
  • 11 people were infected in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti
  • 5 people were infected in Samtskhe-Javakheti
  • 5 people were infected in Kvemo Kartli
  • 4 people were infected in Shida Kartli
  • 2 people were infected in Kkaheti
  • 1 person was infected in Mtskheta-Mtianeti

Endeladze also said that as all of the sources of infection have been identified for now, the situation will gradually stabilise and come to an end.

Meanwhile,  Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has again told journalists today that no ‘systemic closure or further restrictions’ are being discussed nowadays not to harm the current social and economic environment.

PM Gakharia called on everyone to maintain the basic rules of hygiene. He also called on the elderly people and people with chronic diseases to stay home and take care, especially in the region of Adjara.
