Director of Batumi Republican Hospital tests positive for coronavirus

Director of the Batumi Republican Hospital Solomon Putkaradze has tested positive for the coronavirus.
He says he was not infected in the hospital.
Several days ago I was in contact with a relative who has tested positive for the coronavirus. On Thursday of the previous week they told me that they were infected, so I tested for the virus and it came out that I am positive,” he noted.
I have been tested for the coronavirus again today, hopefully the answer will be negative. In three days, so on the 12th day, according to the protocol, I will be tested again and if the answer is negative again, I will return to the job. I feel good,” says Putkaradze.
The director had been placed in the hospital for several days but as he had no symptoms was allowed to go home and continue treatment there. He is in self-isolation and under the supervision of doctors.
Georgia has reported 265 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, a daily increase of six cases compared to yesterday. An elderly individual with underlying illnesses died of the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 27. Fifty-nine patients have recovered in the country in the past 24 hours. Seventeen Covid-19 patients remain in critical condition. Georgia has had 4,664 cases of the coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
A 26th patient has died of coronavirus in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi today, said Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says that despite the sharp growth of new cases of the coronavirus, Georgia still remains a green state status and a safe destination for tourists. He stated earlier today that the government has no plans to impose any systemic restrictions as the country must go back to a normal way of living and Georgian citizens must learn to live with the coronavirus. Gakharia stated that the country is managing and adapting to the coronavirus and the government has taken all measures to prepare for this stage, which includes the early detection of the virus and effective treatment of infected individuals.
A total of 296 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Georgia this morning. Meanwhile, 60 individuals have recovered. As of today, the number of total confirmed cases has increased to 4,960, including 1,819 recoveries and 27 deaths. Georgian state and health officials again call on everyone to maintain social distancing, wear face masks and wash hands frequently.
One more infected individual has died in Georgia today increasing the coronavirus-related deaths to 28. A 59-year-old woman who had underlying diseases including pneumonia, died at the Kutaisi Infectious Disease hospital in the western Georgian region of Imereti.
Traffic has been restricted in Daba Laituri, in Ozurgeti municipality as an increased number of coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the area.
Georgia has confirmed 294 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours with 66% of cases reported in the Adjara region and 15% of cases reported in the capital of Tbilisi. Marina Endeladze, representative of Tbilisi Hospital of Infections Diseases, told journalists that Georgia retains the status of a ‘green zone’ with the speed of the spread of the infection so far.
