A 26th patient has died of coronavirus in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi today, said Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze.
The 70-year-old patient from Batumi suffered from several underlying illnesses.
The patient suffered from coronary heart disease (CHD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The patient’s health condition was already critical when the ambulance transferred him/her to the hospital in Batumi on September 17”, said Gamkrelidze.
Gamkrelidze also said that as of today, a total of 497 coronavirus patients are in various hospitals in the Adjara region, of which 70 are in critical condition.
Georgia reported 259 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today and 62 recoveries.
164 of the 259 new patients are from the country’s coastal Adjara region.
