Georgia reports 259 new cases of coronavirus, 164 in Adjara alone

Georgia has reported 259 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today and 62 recoveries. 

164 of the 259 new patients are from the country’s coastal Adjara region.

The new cases were recorded in: 

  • Adjara region - 164 cases
  • Tbilisi - 43 cases
  • Imereti - 22 cases (15 in Kutaisi, 3 in Tskaltubo, 2 in Baghdati, one in Terjola and one in Sachkhere)
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 15 cases
  • Gori - 1 case
  • Marneuli - 1 case
  • Mtskheta - 1 case
  • Imported - 5 cases 

 Georgia has had 4,399 cases of the coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 1,705 of the 4,399 have recovered, while 25 have died.

As of today 2,669 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country. Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated earlier today that the government has no plans to declare any systemic restrictions.

He said that the ‘previous, effective steps’ taken by the government has allowed the country to be ready for the expected surge in the new infections.
