Georgia has confirmed 25 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the number of total confirmed cases to 1625 over the last 24 hours.
Marina Endeladze, representative of Tbilisi Hospital of Infections Diseases said nine new patients contracted the virus from the candy shop Dona cluster in Georgia's Black Sea town of Batumi.
She also added that eight people had contact with infected individuals, three cases were ‘imported’, three others had travelled to Adjara region, one infected individual works at Aversi pharmacy in the town of Rustavi close to Tbilisi, while the source of one remaining case is yet unknown.
Endeladze also reported that eight individuals have recovered increasing the total number of recoveries in Georgia to 1302.
Earlier this week four night clubs located in Batumi - Soho, Sector 26, Conte bar and UP2U – were closed down and fined for violating coronavirus-related safety norms.
Despite the micro-epidemic in Batumi, the city is not expected to be put under lockdown. However, additional tents have been set up at Batumi Boulevard, providing voluntary coronavirus testing.
