Georgia reports 29 new coronavirus cases

Georgia has confirmed 29 new coronavirus cases and eight recoveries over the last 24 hours.
As of now a total of 1650 cases have been confirmed in the country since late February, while the number of recoveries stands at 1310.
- two new patients belong to the candy shop Dona cluster in Georgia's Black Sea town of Batumi
- one patient belongs to the Aversi pharmacy cluster in the town of Rustavi close to Tbilisi
- one patient is from the Russia-occupied region of Abkhazia
- five people had contact with infected individuals
- two cases were ‘imported’
- 13 individuals had travelled to Adjara region
- the source of five remaining cases is yet unknown
Head of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze has called on everyone to refrain from large gatherings and remain committed to the government-imposed restrictions to avoid the further spread of the virus.
Yesterday Gamkrelidze also noted that quarantine and self-isolation time may be again reduced and individuals will thus have to spend eight days instead of the current 12.
Meanwhile yesterday a three-month-old child was infected in Chokhatauri municipality, Georgia’s western region of Guria form direct contact with an infected individual.
Amiran Gamkrelidze said there are now a total of four coronavirus cases in Guria. He said one out of these four is somehow connected with Adjara, which currently has the most number of new confirmed cases.
Adjara TV, a Batumi-based regional public television channel, has temporarily suspended it broadcast as one of its employees has tested positive for coronavirus today. All of the 340 employees of Adjara TV and radio broadcaster will be tested to avoid the further spread of the virus.
Georgia has confirmed 25 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the number of total confirmed cases to 1625 over the last 24 hours. Marina Endeladze, representative of Tbilisi Hospital of Infections Diseases said nine new patients contracted the virus from the candy shop Dona cluster in Georgia's Black Sea town of Batumi.
Two employees of Nikora supermarket at Vazha-Pshavela Avenue close to Medical University metro station as well as five employees of Zgapari supermarket at Rustavi Highway have been infected with COVID-19 in Georgia.
Georgia has reported 34 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Six new patients contracted the virus from the cluster of candy shop Dona in Georgia's Black Sea resort town of Batumi, 15 from contact from infected individuals, eight patients have travelled in Adjara region, one is a medical worker, two cases are ‘imported’ and the source of infections has not been identified in the remaining two cases.
A total of four night clubs located in Batumi - Soho, Sector 26, Conte bar and UP2U - have been closed down and fined for violating coronavirus-related safety norms. Only Iveria Beach club has satisfied the coronavirus-related requirements of safety.
