Georgia reports 34 new coronavirus cases, 5 recoveries

Georgia has reported 34 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. 

The number of recoveries has increased by five, reaching 1,315. 

Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that six new patients contracted the virus from the cluster of candy shop Dona in Georgia's Black Sea resort town of Batumi, 15 from contact from infected individuals, eight patients have travelled in Adjara region, one is a medical worker, two cases are ‘imported’ and the source of infections has not been identified in the remaining two cases.

Currently, 342 people are undergoing treatment at Covid centres of which three are in critical and 16 are in severe condition",  said Ezurgbaia. 

In total 19 people have died of the virus in the country, 6,020 people are in quarantine, and 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported home from abroad for treatment.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,684 cases of the coronavirus.
