Dreamland Oasis Chakvi hotel in Adjara region will be placed on temporary lockdown as a doctor attending a conference along with 400 other doctors has tested positive for coronavirus.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said an epidemiological survey is underway at the hotel and other doctors will either be sent to quarantine or self-isolation.

Georgia reported 38 new coronavirus cases earlier this morning, including 22 people in Batumi, another tourist destination in Adjara region.

Therefore, Minister Tikaradze has called on everyone travelling home from the region to go into self-isolation and call 112 in case of any suspicious symptoms.

She also asked the citizens to maintain social distancing and wear protective face masks to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, additional tents have been set up at Batumi Boulevard, providing voluntary coronavirus testing.
