The State Sub-Agency Department of Environmental Supervision (DES) registered 4,121 cases of environmental violations throughout Georgia in January-June 2020.
Out of 4,121 cases, 224 of them may be criminally prosecutable, says the agency.
DES says that most of the violations are related to the pollution of the environment. The employees of the agency recorded 1,002 violations of the Waste Management code.
DES has registered 1,532 cases of illegal logging and transportation of timber throughout Georgia during the first six months of 2020.
Out of 4,121 violations, 290 were related to illegal fishing and hunting.
DES reports that most of the environmental violations (1,047) were registered in the Ajara region, while 248 violations were registered in the capital Tbilisi in January-June 2020.
