A total of 306 cases of illegal transportation of timber were recorded across Georgia in 2022, marking a 24 percent increase over 2021, the Revenue Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry said on Tuesday.
In its release of annual figures, the body said the cases involved transportation of about 1,426 cubic metres of timber without necessary papers.
The figure of the volume was 84 percent higher compared to the corresponding number from cases revealed throughout 2021.
The RS also said 43 out of the 206 cases could be criminally prosecutable.
