Georgian police officers arrested 14 individuals for illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition in capital Tbilisi and other parts of Georgia, the Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.
In its update on recent cases across the country, the body said police officers had seized over 250 cartridges, nine firearms, pistols and other types of ammunition during search at places of residence of offenders.
The Ministry also noted six out of the 14 offenders had criminal records, and added the crimes related to the new arrests were punishable by three to nine years in prison.
