Anti-corruption Agency detains three, including Adjara official, for bribe taking

The Anti-corruption agency of the State Security Service of Georgia has detained three people including the Head of the Land Management Service of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Division of Adjara for taking large bribes and two others for helping to secure the bribes.

The agency published a secret recording capturing the negotiation process and the act of taking a bribe.

Head of Land Management Service of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Division of Adjara is also a member of the Commission of Recognition of Property rights of Khelvachauri Municipality. He took $4,000 as a bribe in exchange for recognising a land plot with buildings on as a property in the village of Charnali of Khelvachauri Municipality.

The two others have been arrested as a middleman who carried out negotiations between the parties and another who received $1,000 for creating fake documents to prove that buildings located on the land plot were built back in 2002-2006.
