The de-facto government of the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region has confirmed five new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total to 30 in the region.
RES media outlet reports that among the newly infected individuals, four are students of a Russian military academy. They were placed under quarantine in Tskhinvali region before the symptoms of the virus appeared.
Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region confirmed its first case of the coronavirus on May 6.
RES media reports that as of now 179 individuals are under quarantine for 14 days in de-facto Tskhinvali region, with 139 others in hospitals under the observation of medics.
The de-facto government of Tskhinvali region has completely closed its so-called “border” with Russia from May 10 to May 17 to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The temporary ban on border crossing applies to all ‘non-citizens’ without exception. The ban also applies to trucks.
All public spaces, except for food markets and beauty salons, will remain closed in Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) until May 31.
