Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region has confirmed eight new cases of coronavirus today, bringing the total number of cases to 11.
Tskhinvali confirmed its first case of the coronavirus yesterday.
Res media outlet reports all the infected individuals entered the region from Russia. They were placed under quarantine before the symptoms of the virus appeared.
Res media outlet also reports that de-facto Tskhinvali will completely close its so-called “border” with Russia from May 10 to May 17 to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The temporary ban on border crossing applies to all citizens without exception. The ban also applies to trucks”, reports Res media.
Russian-occupied Tskhinvali closed the so-called “border” with the rest of Georgia and over 60 countries to prevent the coronavirus from spreading to the area in early March.
