Two Georgian citizens have died of the coronavirus in New York and Latvia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier today.
Both individuals suffered from underlying illnesses.
The Georgian man who died of COVID-19 in the US was 80 years old and diabetic, while the other man who died in Latvia was a 53-year-old who had underlying heart issues.
As of today 11 Georgian citizens have died of the virus abroad.
The number of coronavirus cases stands at 496 in Georgia as of April 27. 149 people of the 496 have recovered, while six others have died. 339 people remain infected with the virus inside the country.
4,833 people are under quarantine and 571 others are in hospitals.
Georgia has begun the first stage of a plan to gradually lift coronavirus-related restrictions today, allowing private vehicles and taxis back out onto the roads, and allowing e-commerce (wholesale and retail), delivery services and open air markets to resume operations.

The Georgian government has announced a two-day easing off of restrictions on vehicle traffic between major cities and the rest of the country to allow citizens to return to their homes following Easter celebrations.
Georgian diplomatic representations have provided support for 12,636 Georgian citizens abroad, while 7,600 others have been brought home to Georgia amid the coronavirus pandemic as of April 23 via charter flights or other measures taken by the Georgian government.

Georgia has reported 14 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 511. 156 of the 511 people have recovered, while six others have died. As of today 347 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. 5,085 people are under quarantine and 558 others in hospitals. Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze stated yesterday that Georgia is hitting the peak of spreading the virus and no serious increase in COVID-19 cases is expected in the coming weeks.
A COVID-19 patient with blood cancer has been cured in Georgia. Doctor said that the patient was undergoing treatment in Republican Hospital of Tbilisi and had a very low chance to survive.
Twelve more individuals have recovered from COVID-19 in Georgia increasing the total number of recoveries to 168. Georgia has confirmed 511 coronavirus cases since February 26, including six deaths.
