The Deputy Head of the National Centre for the Disease Control (NCDC), Paata Imnadze says that it will take about a year to return to the normal way of life after the restrictions amid the pandemic are lifted in the country.
Living with COVID-19 means that we will have to refuse gatherings with friends and family members if we don’t want the situation to escalate. We can not live in quarantine regime for a long time, the country will continue life slowly. Some restrictions will be lifted, though it will take us about a year to return to the normal way of life”, said Imnadze.
He also mentioned that an antiviral drug which acts directly against the virus may be accessible in the summer of 2020.
Coronavirus still has many unknown clinical features. The test results of one individual who has recovered is still positive for the coronavirus. There was a time when the virus disappeared and the patient was about to be discharged from the hospital. In this case, the health condition of the patient was not severe, though coronavirus tests results are still positive”, Imnadze told Rustavi 2.
A fifth person has died of COVID-19 in Georgia earlier today.
The 68-year-old man from Bolnisi municipality, with several underlying illnesses, was undergoing treatment in the First University Clinic of Tbilisi.
The man previously suffered a heart attack and lung-related issues, doctors said.
Georgia has reported three new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 411.
98 of the 411 people have recovered.
