November 2019: monthly prices up 0.9 per cent

Monthly prices in Georgia increased by 0.9 per cent, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 7 per cent, show the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Georgia increased by 1.2 per cent compared to the previous month, contributing 0.41 per cent of the overall monthly inflation.   

In particular monthly prices increased in the following subgroups:

  • Vegetables -9.3 per cent
  • Milk, cheese and eggs - 2.7 per cent
  • Coffee, tea and cocoa - 2.1 per cent
  • Bread and cereals - 1.3 per cent
  • Fish – 1 per cent

Along with this, prices decreased for fruit and grapes by 5.8 per cent.

An increase of monthly prices mostly occurred in the following groups:

  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco - 2.0 per cent
  • Recreation and culture - 1.7 per cent
  • Clothing and footwear - 2.1 per cent
  • Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - 0.6 per cent
  • Health – 0.5 per cent
  • Transport – 0.3 per cent

Monthly prices decreased in furnishings, household equipment and maintenance by 0.2 per cent and in restaurants and hotels by 0.3 per cent.
