The price of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.5 per cent in August 2019, show the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In particular, prices increased for the following subgroups:
Meanwhile, prices decreased for vegetables by 2.2%.
Prices went up by 0.6 % for transport.
Prices increased for both the purchase of vehicles (2%) and the operation of personal transport equipment (0.9%).
Health-related cost also increased by 0.7 per cent. Prices increased for medical products, appliances and equipment by 1.6 per cent.
Overall, Georgia’s monthly inflation increased by 0.8 per cent compared to the previous month while the annual inflation rate amounted to 4.9 per cent.
