Jan - Jul ‘19: 77 charged with smuggling drugs into Georgia

The Georgian Interior Ministry has charged 77 individuals of smuggling drugs into Georgia in between January and July 2019. 

The Ministry reports that three were detained for attempting to smuggle drugs in Georgia several days ago. 

One of the detainees was an Iranian national while the other two were Georgian citizens. 

Police seized 920 grams of heroin and 101 pills of narcotic substances. 

On July 31, Police reported the detention of six drug dealers and seized up to four kilograms of heroin and 20 kg of marijuana from two of them.
