Up to 150 firefighters, 30 foresters and a border police helicopter have been brought in to extinguish a fire in the Borjomi Gorge in central Georgia.
The fire was spotted on one of the slopes near the village of Sakire late yesterday.
The Georgian Emergency Management Service reports that two centresof the fire have been contained.
According to preliminary information the fire affected 3.5 hectares territory.
Police are trying to uncover the reasons behind the fire.
Forest fires have been a serious problem for Georgia over the past several years, and the country has needed foreign support to extinguish fires in different regions of the country.
