A unique 18th century venue in the Netherlands is hosting a personal exhibition of works by Georgian painter Giorgi Kukhalashvili, with the artist also featured in the Dutch media.
The display highlighting Kukhalashvili opened on May 6 at the Groeneveld Castle, a 1710 Rococo courthouse now functioning as culture centre for art events in the central Dutch city of Baarn.
Recognised as a prestigious venue for local and international artists, the castle is hosting paintings by the young artist within his week-long visit to the Netherlands.

The exhibition has been attended by collectors and art dealers, with Kukhalashvili also meeting art curators to receive "interesting offers” at the event.
Along with interest from art professionals at the venue, Kukhalashvili’s work received attention in the local media. Profile articles about the artist were published in the publication Kunst- & Museumkrant and art magazine Vind.
Within his trip to the Netherlands Kukhalashvili also held a meeting with art critic Greetje Jacobs at the Hieronymus Bosch Museum in the southern city of Den Bosch as well as art researcher Liza Smith from the Van Gogh Museum in capital Amsterdam.

Dutch art enthusiasts have become familiar with works by the Georgian artist over the recent years.
In 2015 Kukhalashvili’s work Hieronymus Bosch's Dream was sold in the Netherlands for $50,000. The artist also exhibited his work on the theme of the celebrated 15th century Dutch painter in twelve cities of the country in 2016.
Born in the western Georgian city of Kutaisi, Kukhalashvili graduated from the Iakob Nikoladze Art College in 2002 and the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2007.
He established the Union of Young Artists "Language of Art" in 2010 in a bid to facilitate "dialogue and cooperation” between local painters and sculptors.
