A major exhibition space in central Tbilisi will host a display of works created over decades by prominent Georgian artist Leila Shelia.
Organised by the Georgian National Museum (GNM) at the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, the exhibition will showcase about 80 works made by Shelia during her creative career. The exhibition will launch on December 6 and continue for three weeks.
Her paintings and graphical works illustrate decades of creative work and her pieces are preserved at various art galleries and many private collections around the world.

Born in Sokhumi in what is now Georgia's north-western breakaway region Abkhazia, Shelia graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1978.
Since 1982 her work has featured at group exhibitions and personal displays in Georgia and across Europe.

In Tbilisi, her works have been shown at a range of local exhibition spaces including the Tbilisi History Museum (also known as Karvasla), Baia Gallery and TBC Gallery.
Several of her paintings were collected for a special 2014 album on the artist, which was published with the support of the GNM.
