Judo: Georgia wins four medals at Almaty Grand Prix

Another Georgian athlete has won gold at a prestigious International Judo Federation (IJF) competition in Kazakhstan.

Georgia’s big man Adam Okruashvili (+100kg) triumphed at the Almaty Grand Prix, becoming the second Georgian to win gold at the tournament.

Okruashvili’s win came one day after Lasha Shavtaduashvili became champion of the men’s 73kg weight category.

Overall Georgia won four medals in Almaty – two gold and two bronze.

The bronze medals went to Nugzar Tatalashvili (73kg) and Levan Matiashvili (+100kg).

With these results, Georgia was named Grand Prix champion in the men’s competition. Georgia was named the second best nation following France in the men’s and women’s overall results.
