Georgia wins European judo championship for 8th time

The final fight against Russia saw the Georgian athletes win convincingly, cementing the name for the country as the undefeatable European nation.

Georgia is the best judo nation in Europe.

Georgia’s national judo team was crowned European champion after the nation defeated Russia in the final match and gained the continental title yesterday.

This was the eighth time Georgia has been named the best judo nation in Europe.

The Georgian anthem was heard as the nation’s flag flew high in the Russian city of Kazan, which hosted the European Judo Championships 2016.

Before the final stage the Georgian athletes defeated Hungary, Greece and Poland – all strong European judo nations.

The final fight against Russia saw the Georgian athletes win convincingly, cementing the name for the country as the undefeatable European nation.

As for the individual competition, Georgian judokas won a total of seven medals at the competition: two gold, three silver and two bronze.

The winning team will return home on Tuesday to be warmly welcomed by proud fans.
