A Georgian judoka has won gold at an International Judo Federation event in Lima, Peru.
Beka Gviniashvili was crowned champion of the 100kg weight category at the Open Panamericano Lima 2016.
Gviniahsvili, who only recently moved into this category after previously competing in the 90kg group, defeated all of his opponents shortly after the fights begun with an ippon, the highest score a fighter can achieve in judo.
The Georgian athlete defeated American, New Zealand, Argentinian and Estonian judokas and received 100 points, which will be added to his rating for qualifying for this year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Next week Gviniashvili will compete at a similar tournament in Argentina and if he succeeds, his ranking will be enriched with another 100 points.
There will be seven weight categories in the judo competition at the upcoming Olympics and Georgian judokas have already qualified to compete in six of them - all except the 100kg weight class.
