After graphic and disturbing images showing the dead body of the late PM Zurab Zhvania leaked on the internet overnight, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has revealed the investigation into the death of the late PM is almost finished.

Some claim Zhvania died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from a poorly ventilated gas heater however his official cause of death remains unknown.

Garibashvili believed the Chief Prosecution’s Office had a strategy of how to investigate Zhvania’s death, which included negotiating with international expert bureaus to see whether his body could be exhumed.

"There is no need for additional speculation. It was very terrible and I was shocked to watch the video. It is also very sad for Zhvania’s family to look at these photos,” Garibashvili said.

A one-minute photo collage of 12 images, showing the corpses of the late Prime Minister and Deputy Governor of Kvemo Kartli region Raul Usupov leaked on Youtube about midnight last night.

The video titled "Saakashvili killed Mr. Zurab Zhvania” was uploaded by a user named Hakim Pasha. The montage contained still photos of the bodies that identified a number of possible injuries that could be relevant to the men’s deaths.

Garibashvili believed the late PM and Usupov died in unknown circumstances.

The men were found dead in a rented apartment in the early morning of February 3, 2005. Zhvania was one of the main contributors to the 2003 Rose Revolution and ally of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili.
