Human rights activist Irakli Kakabadze made the announcement after four hours of testimony at the Prosecutor's office in Georgia. He was questioned as a witness in connection to the case of ex PM Zurab Zhvania's death.

"There are and always will be transnational criminal groups, whose political and economical interests are crossed and resisted in the name of law, as was resisted by PM Zhvania. That was the reason for his death. I am talking about December of 2004 said Kakabadze.

Irakli Kakabadze also added that the FBIs report about death of Zurab Zhvania was falsified and wrongly translated by the authorities.

At the time, Irakli Kakabadze worked in an external relations department of the Tbilisi Aircraft Manufacturing (TAM).

Zurab Zhvania was elected as Prime Minister by the Parliament of Georgia in February of 2004 according to the proposal of President Mikheil Saakashvili. Early in the morning of 3 February 2005, he found dead in a rented apartment with Raul Usupov, deputy governor of Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region, at the time. Officials claimed that it was carbon monoxide poisoning, due to an inadequately ventilated gas heater.

The reason for death is still unclear. Intensive investigative work has been ongoing during the last period of this case.
