Most Georgian roads are open for traffic. However, there are several routes remained under certain restrictions due to alleged accident threats.
In particular, here are the directions one should be cautious if decides to take the routes:
- Trailer trucks, semi-trailers and the transport with more than 30-seat capacity are not let on eastern mountainous Aragvispiri-Gudauri-Larsi road section, which is the part of eastern Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route. All the rest transport is permitted;
- Gudauri-Kobi section of the same route is open only with the use of snit-skid chains;
- Aragvispiri-Gudauri section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route is open for all transport.
- The whole route is open for off-road vehicles;
- The 173-188 km road section of western Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia route is closed due to the avalanche risk.
- The 70-172th km of the same route is open for off-road vehicles and all the other transport through snit-skin chains.
- The 37-57th road section of the western Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri route has been cleaned and is open for all transport without snit-skid chains except trailers, semi-trailers and the transport with more than 30-seat capacity.
- The 94-110th road section of the southern Koda-Partskhisi-Manglisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda route, which is a pass area, is closed for all transport.
Various parts of Georgia, especially mountainous regions, experienced heavy snow and storms at the end of 2015 and the very first days of the new year.
