The Gudauri-Kobi section of eastern Georgia’s Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route is closed for all vehicles due to storm and low visibility, Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure announced today.
The Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is the route linking Georgia with Russia.
The Aragvispiri-Gudauri-Larsi section of the same road is closed for truck and trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles that can carry more than 30 passengers.
Vehicles travelling along the Stepantsminda-Larsi section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route must not stop due to the poor road conditions, officials said.
Restrictions have also been imposed in the following directions:
- Only off-road vehicles can travel along the 36-58th section of eastern Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi Highway. All other vehicles are allowed to use this road only if they are fitted with special anti-skid chains. These restrictions were because of heavy snowfall in the area.
- The 37-55th section of western Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri Highway is closed for truck and trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles that can carry more than 30 passengers. All other vehicles can move freely there.
- The 30-188th section of western Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili route is also closed for truck and trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30-seat capacity due to heavy snow and icy, frozen surfaces.
