The Gudauri-Kobi section of eastern Georgia’s Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is closed for all vehicles due to heavy snowfall and avalanche threats, Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure announced today.

The Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road is the route linking Georgia with Russia.

Meanwhile vehicles travelling along the Stepantsminda-Larsi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi route must not stop due to poor road conditions, officials said.

Restrictions have also been imposed in one road in western Georgia too.

The 37-55km section (the Nakerala Pass) of the Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri road in western Georgia was closed to trailer trucks, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30-seat capacity. All other vehicles were allowed to freely move along this section of road.

The remaining roads throughout Georgia were clean and safe to all drivers, Georgia’s Roads Department said.
