Theodoros Rousopoulos, the newly elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on Friday extended his “warmest congratulations” to Irakli Kobakhidze on his appointment as the country’s new Prime Minister.
In his congratulatory message, Rousopoulos highlighted the importance of unity around the shared values to face “extraordinary challenges”.
Rousopoulos said Kobakhidze’s “extensive work and experience” gained within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2020 would be “decisive assets” in fulfilling the obligations.
The Georgian Parliament last week approved Kobakhidze as the head of the Government with 84 votes in favour and 10 against, following the resignation of Irakli Garibashvili as the PM on January 29.
