Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, on Monday extended his “heartiest congratulations” to Irakli Kobakhidze on his appointment as the country’s new Prime Minister, and noted he looked forward to working with his counterpart “to take our relations to new heights”.
In his congratulatory message, Modi highlighted the “traditionally warm and friendly relations” between India and Georgia and stressed that “the bilateral ties have steadily strengthened and diversified” into different areas of cooperation in recent times.

The Indian PM also emphasised he was “confident” that the cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen under the new PM’s leadership, and wished Kobakhidze “good health and well-being, and prosperity for the friendly people of Georgia”.
Kobakhidze was approved by the Georgian Parliament as the head of the Government on February 8, following the resignation of Irakli Garibashvili as the PM on January 29.
