Irakli Chikovani, the newly appointed Minister of Defence of Georgia, on Wednesday met Răzvan Rotundu, the Romanian Ambassador to the country, to discuss the importance of strategic partnership between the two states and “successful bilateral” cooperation in defence.

The Ministry said the meeting also featured Ovidiu Pișcociu, the Romanian Defence Attaché, with the parties highlighting Romania's “role and active participation” in the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package.

Chikovani extended his gratitude to the officials for their support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its integration into NATO and the European Union.
