Prospects of cooperation between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Monday between Irakli Chikovani, the newly appointed Minister of Defence and Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to the country.
The meeting focused on future plans within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries and on steps for strengthening Georgia’s defence capabilities. The officials also discussed the importance of international exercises, the Ministry said.

Chikovani expressed gratitude to the US side for its “firm political and practical support” of Georgia, with parties also noting the latter’s significant contribution to ensuring international security.
The meeting also reviewed NATO-Georgia cooperation, while the sides also expressed hope the “fruitful” defence cooperation between their countries would be further strengthened.
The meeting was also attended by Colonel Joseph Bilbo, the US Defence Attaché to Georgia.
