David Ruetz, the Senior Vice President of Messe Berlin, the fairgrounds hosting the major international tourism fair ITB Berlin, on Monday said choosing Georgia as the Host Country of the event had been an "excellent choice”.

The Georgian National Tourism Administration cited Ruetz as noting his confidence on the success of the Georgian programme for the Host Country status for the fair that will host dignitaries today and open its doors to general public on Tuesday.

I am sure that the tradition of Georgian hospitality will win the hearts of everyone at the exhibition [...] I expect that a lot of business contracts will be signed and Georgia will make many new friends", Ruetz said.

The Senior Vice President of the venue also noted his experience as a guest in Georgia in his visit to the country.

Running under the “Infinite Hospitality” theme to showcase Georgian tourism destinations, cuisine, culture and performing arts to visitors, the event will present various facets of the country over the next three days.

The fair will be opened by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and other officials with a “brilliant and spectacular” ceremony at CityCube Berlin.

About 2,500 guests will be involved in the 45-minute official opening show under the heading “Infinite Georgian Culture - From the Beginnings of Viticulture to Modern Avant-garde Art”. The main programme of the event will then run between Tuesday and Thursday.
