Georgian PM, US General discuss strategic partnership, prospects of future cooperation

The long-term strategic partnership and the prospects of future cooperation between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Saturday by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and General Christopher Cavoli, the Commander of US European Command, in a meeting held within the ongoing Munich Security Conference.

The sides emphasised the “considerable assistance” having been provided by the US “over the years” for strengthening Georgia’s democratic institutions, building defence capabilities, and promoting economic growth, the Government Administration said, adding the US contribution to the common Euro-Atlantic security was also pointed out.

 

Garibashvili stressed Georgia would remain the “most reliable and loyal ally” of the US in the Black Sea region and “beyond”, and noted that the country welcomed “more active” involvement and investment of the US in strengthening the security, economic development, and connectivity of the region.

The Head of the Government thanked General Cavoli for the US’s “steadfast support” of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
