Georgian FM highlights “high-level” visits in meeting with Greek President

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday highlighted the importance of high-level meetings of officials from Greece and Georgia as he met the Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou in Athens.
The Georgian foreign office cited the Minister as saying such trips could “further strengthen” bilateral cooperation and “historic friendship” between the two countries.

For her part, the President also emphasised the “centuries-old ties” and reaffirmed her country’s “strong support” for Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as Greece's “particular interest” in the South Caucasus region.
In the final note, Darchiashvili expressed his gratitude to the Greek Government for supporting his country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the European integration agenda.
As part of the visit, the Georgian official also met his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias to discuss cooperation.
Bilateral agenda between Georgia and Greece and the latter’s support for Georgia’s European integration were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias.
