Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said the latest report of the Fraser Institute on Human Freedom Index 2023 ranked Georgia first among the European Union candidate countries, with the country surpassing four EU and eight NATO member states.
In his social media post, Papuashvili stressed the latest ranking once again confirmed Georgia’s “leadership [by] maintaining its traditional position at first place” among candidate countries, “a few days after” the country obtained the EU candidate status.

The Fraser Institute report ranked Georgia in the 42nd position, outperforming countries like Poland, Bulgaria, Moldova, Hungary, Serbia, etc.
On a scale of zero to 10, where 10 represents more freedom, personal freedom in Georgia was evaluated at 7.87, economic freedom at 7.71 and human freedom at 7.80.
