Revaz Javelidze, the Head of the Government Administration, on Monday highlighted Georgia’s selection in 11th place in Europe in corruption control in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, and credited the outcome with “correct and effective” Government reforms.

Javelidze said the country’s ranking placed it ahead of 25 European Union and NATO member countries, and five member states of the Big Seven.

The World Bank published the results of the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report on September 30. In the corruption control ranking, Georgia earned 68 percent with a 100 percent evaluation system, and took 20th place in the world and 11th in Europe”, he said.

Javelidze added Georgia took second spot among post-Soviet countries in the selection for rule of law, behind Estonia, and said the results were  “quite impressive”.

Among the countries that were evaluated, our country ranks 29th globally and 14th in Europe. According to the ranking of the rule of law, Georgia is ahead of 21 EU and NATO member countries, and three states of the Big Seven. Georgia is also the leading state in the region, and among the post-Soviet countries, it is only behind Estonia and Lithuania and ranks third”, he said.

Javelidze said Georgia was also evaluated in the rating of "quality of regulations". “We took ninth place among states, and seventh among economies”, he added.
