Reforms implemented in Georgia were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and the visiting delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
The meeting focused on the “fruitful” cooperation between the Georgian authorities and the body, the Parliament said.
Papuashvili noted the Georgian authorities “highly” appreciated the cooperation with the Venice Commission and the body’s formal opinions on bills that “help bring Georgia closer to European standards”.

Simona Granata-Menghini, a member of the visiting delegation, reviewed the process of the body preparing its opinions and procedures that she said were “based on active dialogue and exchanges”.
The officials also highlighted the importance of “regular” communication between the Georgian Government and the Commission “at all stages” of preparation and adoption of related bills.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation will meet the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and leaders of parliamentary opposition parties.
