Paweł Herczyński, the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, on Tuesday said he hoped the bloc’s member states would share the recommendation of the European Commission and make a “positive” decision on granting Georgia the membership candidate status next month.
In his remarks over the matter, Herczyński noted he would like to see the country’s progress on the steps set out by the European Commission.
I sincerely hope that our member states will share the advice of the European Commission and make a positive decision regarding the granting of candidate status to Georgia”, Herczyński said.
The diplomat also stressed the electoral process in the country must be “as free and transparent as possible”, in reference to the 2024 parliamentary elections.
