Judicial and electoral bills initiated in the Georgian Parliament were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, and a visiting delegation of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
Kobakhidze said the Georgian authorities were cooperating “intensively” with the Venice Commission in comments on the meeting.
Bills are often sent from us to the Venice Commission. We receive opinions from them, and the rate of consideration of the recommendation is certainly high on the part of the Georgian Parliament. The cooperation will continue in this mode”, he said.
The party official added the meeting reviewed “specific aspects” of the cooperation and related bills.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation will meet the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and leaders of parliamentary opposition parties.
