Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, on Thursday congratulated the Georgian authorities and citizens on the European Commission’s recommendation for the country to be granted the membership candidate status.
In his comments over the decision, Colomina noted the development was a “recognition” of the work done by the country and its commitment with “shared values”.

The Commission’s decision on Wednesday adopted the 2023 Enlargement Package, recommending opening accession talks with Ukraine, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina and granting the membership candidate status to Georgia.
