Juansher Burchuladze, the Georgian Defence Minister, on Tuesday met Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, to discuss domestic defence reforms and progress achieved in strengthening the country’s capabilities and increasing its compatibility with the bloc.
The Ministry said the parties also discussed the existing security environment and challenges in Georgia and the wider region.
The meeting highlighted the “critical” importance of the “successful” implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, and the alliance's “tailored” support for the country on the backdrop of “current security challenges”.
Burchuladze extended his gratitude to Colomina for supporting Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and NATO integration aspirations.
On his part, Colomina said he “highly appreciated” the “successful” work of the Ministry and the interagency Government team over the past year, and confirmed the bloc’s “unwavering” support for Georgia's accession goals.
