Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday marked the national Day of the Diplomat by highlighting the “key role” of the country’s envoys in ensuring the “main goals of our state and the people”, which he said included the country’s reintegration, “full integration” into the “family of free European nations” and domestic peace and development.
I congratulate every Georgian diplomat, everyone who is tirelessly working for the success of the Georgian state in the international arena”, the PM said, and added the date was celebrated on the birthday of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, a historical figure he called the “founder of modern Georgian diplomacy”, to “once again confirm our commitment to the values he served throughout his life”.
The head of the Government also described diplomacy as the “art of dialogue, negotiations, cooperation, strengthening of peace” and the “most important tool” in the face of existing security challenges for Georgia and the international community.
Extending his gratitude for the “high professionalism, patriotism and dedication” of the officials representing the country, the PM pledged his office’s “continuous support” for their diplomatic missions.
