Close relations between Georgia and Sweden, the current agenda of cooperation and opportunities for its deepening were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström.
The meeting focused on Georgia's accession to the European Union, the progress achieved in the process and the existing challenges, the Georgian foreign service said.
The top Georgian diplomat informed his Swedish counterpart about the process of implementation of the EU conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status.

The meeting also highlighted the recent report of the European Commission that “positively” assessed the progress achieved by Georgia in a number of directions in its integration efforts, and noted the “importance” of it receiving the membership candidate status.
Billström expressed his country’s “readiness” to help the Georgian Government in the implementation of reforms.
The officials also reviewed the security environment in the Black Sea region, with the top Swedish diplomat confirming his “unwavering support” for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
