Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday discussed relations with the European Union, Georgia’s territorial integrity and the current situation in the Black Sea region with the Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer during the latter's visit to the country.

The parties noted  Georgia should continue implementing institutional reforms, while the European Union should make a "strategic decision" regarding the country  in a show of its support, Zourabichvili's press office said.

Nehammer voiced Austria’s “firm support and full readiness” to back Georgia in its European integration process.

The discussion also touched on the Russian occupation of Georgia, with the sides  noting the country's territorial integrity should be restored only through peaceful means.

The importance of strengthening the economic cooperation between Georgia and of Austria was also emphasised.
