Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said facilitating connectivity projects with Europe was an "important" subject and one of the "clear priorities" of his Government, in a press briefing with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Tbilisi.
In comments during the first visit of Nehammer to Georgia, Garibashvili said the recently signed Black Sea submarine cable project - intended to directly connect the energy systems of the South Caucasus with Europe - was an “exemplary” initiative for ensuring "more integration" of Georgia with the European market.
The Government Administration also cited the PM as saying a working group had already been formed for the implementation of the project, which involves Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary and Romania.
This can be one of the prominent, exemplary projects [...] this and other projects will certainly help Georgia to integrate even more into the European market [...] and we must strengthen this mutual dependence", Garibashvili said.
The Austrian Chancellor started his official visit to Georgia today and is scheduled to meet officials in the country.
