Relations between Georgia and the European Union and the implementation of the bloc’s conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Maka Botchorishvili, the Head of the European Integration Committee in the Georgian Parliament, and Aron Emilsson, her counterpart in the Swedish Parliament.
Hosted in her visit to Sweden, Botchorishvili met Emilsson, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the legislative body, to review Georgia-EU ties, implementation of the European Commission recommendations and dynamics of Georgia's integration into the bloc, the press office of the Georgian Parliament said.
The officials also reviewed challenges facing European security, the strengthening cooperation between the EU and Georgia in the Black Sea region, economic development trends and the country’s transit potential.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of an “active” involvement of Sweden in supporting the European perspective of Georgia.
