Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday highlighted “bonds of friendship” between the Georgian and Jewish peoples and noted the “strong ties form the basis for a fruitful, multidimensional cooperation between the two states” in a meeting with the visiting Israeli counterpart Amir Ohana.
In his remarks at the press briefing following the meeting, Papuashvili noted the Georgian authorities were “appreciative” of the visit and intensive communication between the sides that was taking place on the backdrop of a “difficult, challenging geopolitical situation”.
The Georgian and Jewish people are connected by a 26-century friendship, and these strong ties create a solid foundation for the development of fruitful and multidimensional cooperation between Georgia and Israel”, the chief Georgian legislator said.
Papuashvili also extended his gratitude to the Israeli Government for supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the policy of non-recognition of the country’s Russian-occupied regions.
